About Kevin...

Kevin Patrick Moroney, 52, of Overland Park, was taken from his family in front of his home on August 7, 2014.  Kevin was born on February 22, 1962 to Don and Jackie Moroney. He was a devoted father of four and PaPa to granddaughter Eden Mae.  Kevin enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and even strangers.

As a young dad, Kevin cherished family and knew that spending time with his children was the most important gift a father could give.  He purchased the family boat when the kids were little and spent hours with them and their friends exploring, skiing and tubing.  Kevin shared his sense of adventure, his love of the outdoors, and the importance of family while creating lasting memories.

Kevin taught his children the importance of a good work ethic in all aspects of his life.  He was devoted to his craft of carpentry and his creativity was second to none.  He ran his business, MOR Home Improvements, with pride and precision.  Many homes throughout Kansas and Missouri are far improved because of the extra time and effort he took to finish the job right.  It may have taken him longer than expected, but the end result was always perfection.  Of course, you may have gained a new house guest at all hours, your fridge may have been emptied, and you might have even caught him throwing a load of his laundry in at your house…but it all paid off in the end.

Kevin was proud of his Irish heritage.  He kept in touch with his relatives in Ireland and rounded everyone up for the annual Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Parade, where family and friends filled the “Boney Moroney” float.

Kevin was a man of faith.  He was raised in the Catholic Church attending St. Ann’s Catholic Grade School and Bishop Miege High School.  He served as an usher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church for the past three decades.  He also became involved with his neighborhood church, Heartland Community Church, where he studied the Bible, and read to the children in Sunday School.

Over the years, Kevin was always involved with his children’s activities.  He helped with building stage sets for grade and high school plays, homecoming floats, and pine wood derby cars, always exuding a spirit of energy and youth.

Kevin will always be remembered for his big heart.  He always looked passed his own needs and saw the needs of others.  From his neighbors to perfect strangers, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand, always sporting a contagious smile.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father Donald Vincent Moroney.  He is survived by his four children Brenton (Jessica) Moroney of Overland Park, Brittany Moroney of New York, NY, Blakelund Moroney of Overland Park, and Brogan Moroney of Overland Park.  He is also survived by granddaughter Eden Mae, the mother of his children, Marcia Moroney, his mother Jackie Ann Moroney, and sisters Mary Ellen (Bill) Boeding, and Michelle Buchanan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
